How to Be Happier

Bookmark and Share

If you feel compelled to do X, do X.

For instance:

  • If your body is telling you to rest, rest.
  • If you feel the need to run, run.
  • If your soul tells you to stop doing _____, quit doing it.

Think of a dog:

  1. He doesn't seek happiness.
  2. He doesn't force himself to do X.
  3. If he needs rest, he rests.
  4. If he dislikes something, he stops doing it.
  5. He does X if X naturally calls him to do it.

He's about 99854654985932582930583232 times more happy than the typical person.

Seek what comes naturally to you.

A dog is always happier than a typical man or for that matter, all human being. Being gifted with only five sense (I apologize if it does have less or more), it need not worry about its forefather, its own generation or coming generation. But, the biggest boon of sixth sense - a natural gift, which is not wisely used by 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of human beings, make themselves and as well as others happier. This sixth sense is the root cause of a man to lead to momentary arrogance to seeking peace at outside, when it is available within. To enjoy the happiness of being happier, one should forget himself and sit in the corner for a moment and dissolve from the worldly things.

While I can see what you're getting at, I have to say that it's not quite that easy. If your soul tells you that you hate your job and should quit it, the average person can't just up and quit their job. Or perhaps your soul is a violent little ball of light that says you should punch your neighbor in the nose because he took your newspaper last Sunday, you clearly shouldn't do that ;) There are a lot of times when we can listen to our bodies and minds and choose not to, but there are limits. Sometimes we just can't do what our body/mind tells us - at least not immediately.
